Rotterdam

The port of Rotterdam is one of the largest and most important ports in the world. The city is located on the Nieuwe Maas, one of the rivers in the delta formed by the Rhine and the Maas. The name Rotterdam dates from the thirteenth century and refers to a dam in the river Rotte.

This small collage is an ode to my father, who instilled in me a love for the profession. He made a beautiful series of black-and-white photos of the port of Rotterdam, somewhere in the sixties of the last century, when there was still a lot of steam. For me, Rotterdam remains a metropolis with beautiful panoramas and appealing architecture.
